The University of Bari, and in paritcular the Departments of Pharmacy – Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry and Physics are active in the field of single-molecule bioelectronics. The faculty members of these facilities coordinate both activities in the development of biochemical systems to be used for selective recognition and in bio-functionalization procedures and characterization of sensitive surfaces, as well as in the realization of processes, such as the fabrication of metal thin films, preparation of inorganic substrates for sensor devices and their characterization, which also require the use of the clean room located in the Department of Physics.
ÅboAkademi University, the Boundary breaking university, celebrated its centennial in 2018. One of Åbo Akademi’s research areas is materials and molecular process technology, where interdisciplinary research in advanced processes and materials technology explores future possibilities in the development of advanced materials and technologies for biomedical research. At the center of these activities is the Center for Functional Materials (FUNMAT -www.funmat.fi), which is a functional materials research center based at ÅboAkademi University. Research goals within the Center for Functional Materials have been to create and demonstrate new functionalities for future interactive products by combining advanced chemistry and complex materials with printing technologies.
The NoOne project aims to develop, design, implement, and validate an innovative platform based on a single-molecule binary bioelectronic sensor that can reliably discriminate biofluid samples lacking biomarkers from those containing at least one
